Marta Manzano

Marta joined the African Studies Program in November 2021. In her role, she provides advising to prospective and current students.  Marta plans and coordinates domestic and international events, manages course offerings and scheduling, as well  as other academic special projects and initiatives. She also coordinates the African Studies  Kenya Alternative Spring Break Program, for which she was a trip leader in  2022. Before joining Georgetown, Marta worked at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) in the School of Engineering and the College of Agriculture. Marta has an extensive background in education including working for the French Ministry of Education as an English Teaching Assistant in Reunion Island, the International Baccalaureate, the College Board, and George Mason University. Marta holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and Italian Language and Literature and a Master of Arts degree in International Education Policy from UMCP. During her master’s program she conducted research on Cameroon’s educational system, which she presented at the 2022 American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (new window) Annual Meeting. Marta holds a second Masters of International Management, and she is currently pursuing a doctorate degree at Georgetown University. When Marta is not at Georgetown, she enjoys teaching Zumba classes in the MD/DC area.
