Ankushi Mitra is a PhD candidate in the Government Department. In the past, she has worked as a development professional on projects throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Her current research interests include citizenship, migration, and displacement, which she is pursuing through a comparative focus on East Africa and South Asia. At Georgetown, she is currently working with Dr. Lahra Smith and she is particularly interested in questions of how citizenship, de jure and meaningful, elite-led and popular, interacts with political economies of democracy and development.
