Professor Elijah Zehyoue is a historian of politics, religion, and social change in Africa and the African Diaspora. As a specialist of West African History, Professor Zehyoue’s research is focused on the impact of slavery and colonialism on West African polities and people in the 19th and 20th century. His dissertation is a historical investigation of the origins of the Liberian Civil War. He has taught courses and frequently writes on African History, African Diaspora History, and African and African American Religion.
