1. Decolonization in Africa (AFSP 4365-25 | CRN: 20634)

Description: Explores how African peoples across different social backgrounds struggled for liberation from colonial rule, from WWII to the present, and the legacy of decolonization on the African diaspora.
2. West Africa and The World Course (AFSP 2206-10/HIST 2206-10 | CRN: 20632)
Instructor: Professor Halimat Somotan
Description: Surveys West African history from early empires through colonialism to the present, emphasizing the region’s global contributions. Includes field visits to DC’s Smithsonian African Art and African American History museums.
3. Race: Development and Humanitarianism (Course: AFSP 2300-20 | CRN: 20633)
Instructor: Professor Kwame Otu
Description: Examines development and humanitarian work as racialized systems shaped by the legacies of slavery and colonialism, with a focus on Africa and the African diaspora.
