Dylan Atchley Proctor  is a PhD candidate and historical epidemiologist in the environmental history program at Georgetown University. His doctoral research focuses on innovating methods to better understand the contours and outcomes of infectious disease epidemics in twentieth century Africa. Prior to Georgetown, Dylan received a masters in medical anthropology from Boston University School of Medicine and a graduate certificate in African studies under the guidance of Diana Wylie and James McCann. In July 2022, Dylan will be the first historian to join the ranks of the Epidemic Intelligence Service for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he will train in applied epidemiology to bridge the gap between historical and present-day public health.
