ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The African Studies Program of Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service was established in 1980. Since then, the program has grown steadily. Directed by Dr. Scott Taylor, it now boasts 16 core and associated faculty who offer more than 20 courses on the cultural, historical, economic, and political aspects of African life and society.
The centerpiece of the program is the African Studies certificate, but the program also sponsors a distinguished speaker lecture series, an annual conference on African affairs, and a summer fellowship program. A tri-annual newsletter published by the Program updates students, faculty, and friends of the Program on events at the University and in the Washington area.
